James C. "Jimmy" Godber passed away on November 21st, 2019 at the age of 77. A 54 year member of Local 728, he will also be remembered as a former Lot Steward at 20th Century Fox Studios, long time ACLT on many FOX shows and for his ever present smile and Hawaiian shirts.
Brother Gary Scalzo, a 40 year member of Local 728 who joined in 1979, passed away at the age of 61 on November 13, 2019. Gary will be remembered by many as the long-time department head of Set Lighting at Paramount Studios in the 1980's and 90's.
It is again with a heavy heart that we must inform the membership of the passing of another Local 728 Gold Card member, that of 30 year member, 63 year old Roger Lattin. Roger was well known for his selfless dedication to the safety, education and training of all his 728 sisters and brothers as well as set lighting technicians throughout the industry. Roger was always willing to lend a hand and share his vast knowledge of electrical standards with anyone who would listen. We are truly blessed and grateful to have held the privilege and honor of calling him brother.
It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform our membership that Local 728 Gold Card member Richard McConihay, aka "Dick" "Captain Dickie" has passed away at the age of 81. Dick was a long time Sergeant at Arms of Local 728 and many of us know him as the door keeper of our union meetings.
Brother Alfred "Al" Kalous passed away on July 24th, 2019 He was 81 years old. Al was obligated into membership on February 23, 1974, making him a 45 year member of Local 728. His brother and ours, Ken Kalous, passed away in 2015.
