Striking IBEW Spectrum Workers: CEO Gets $98M A Year, But No Fair Contract For Workers

Two thousand IBEW Local 3 technicians have been on strike for over nine weeks at Spectrum cable in New York City and New Jersey.

On the New York City picket lines WIN interviewed this striker, who chose not to give his name, about the issues in the strike.

NYC Spectrum Striker: "The CEO was the highest paid CEO in the whole country at $98.5 million 'til 2021. They could justify giving him an increase of somethin' like over $70 million a year, but yet the workers who are making their money interactin' with the public, they can't give them a fair contract, a fair medical plan."

Another issue is disciplining workers for failure to meet the speeds customers expect that the union says is caused by Spectrum's lack of proper infrastructure repairs and improvements.
