International Domestic Workers Federation Seeks Full Labor Rights For 67 Million Domestic Workers

International Domestic Workers Federation President Myrtle Witbooi, speaking on Canada’s Radio Labour, says the 67 million domestic workers in the world deserve full worker rights in their respective nations. Witbooi says the International Domestic Workers Federation is organized and run to be the global voice of domestic workers.

Myrtle Witbooi: “This federation wants to ensure that we become the voice for the voiceless. This federation wants to speak out.

We want to enter those countries where they have never been entered before. We want to go speak up for those domestic workers. Everyday we see the killing in the Arab countries. We see how domestic workers are being treated.

This federation must become that voice. These women that are running this federation, they must ensure that the domestics voice is never silenced.”

Witbooi says the International Domestic Workers Federation, formed in 2013, is growing.

Myrtle Witbooi: “And this federation is proving to be a great success. This federation is growing.

We’ve got 57 countries. We’ve got nearly 500,000 domestic workers.”
