UTLA Donates $60K To Help DACA Dreamers Renew Their Status

United Teachers of Los Angeles rallied with parents and community members Tuesday in support of the DACA program.

The union is donating $60,000 to groups financially helping dreamers renew their protection status – which costs $495 per person. The union says thousands of Los Angeles students, teachers and alumni face a tight October 5th deadline to renew their status.

UTLA President Alex Caputo-Pearl says Trump’s actions rescinding DACA are “a direct attack on our immigrant students and families and they are antithetical to our values as public school educators.”
