Nurses Urge Rejection of The "Mortal Threat" Of House Health Bill As CA Medicare For All Advances

A hundred National Nurses United RN's were on Capitol Hill Wednesday urging the Senate to reject the "mortal threat" of the House health care bill. The nurses say the House Republican health insurance bill is “a mortal threat to the health and well-being of our patients, and to the health security of our country.”

The nurses are advocating Medicare for all instead.

In California National Nurses United/California Nurses Association (NNU/CNA) are pushing hard for a state Medicare For All bill.

"Strong Majority" Of University of Chicago Grad Student Workers File For Union Election

A "strong majority" of grad student workers at the University of Chicago want a union. They filed Monday for an NLRB union representation election.

Graduate Students United filed union authorization cards signed by a "strong majority" of grad student workers in six departments at the University of Chicago. Issues driving the effort to unionize include health care, workload and compensation.

The nation’s largest nurses’ union has condemned the passage of the American Health Care Act by  House Republicans as “cruel and unusual punishment” for millions of Americans.  Following the vote National Nurses United issued a statement saying the bill to overturn the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare, would deprive tens of millions of Americans of their health coverage and threaten millions more with bankruptcy. 

Brazilian Unions: Anti-Austerity General Strike Was 'Just The Beginning'

Amazon Delivery Drivers Join Teamsters Local 337 in Detroit

Delivery drivers who work at a company that contracts with Amazon voted today to join Teamsters Local 337 in Detroit.

The drivers at Silver Star in Brownstown, Michigan voted 22-7 to join Local 337. There are 46 drivers in the bargaining unit. Silver Star is one of dozens of third-party companies that Amazon contracts with to deliver its packages, and Silver Star is the third largest package-delivery contractor with Amazon. It delivers packages for Amazon in the Chicago area, in Texas and California and other locations.
