Carrier - the company where Trump claimed to have saved 1100 jobs in Indianapolis - is cutting 600 jobs by Christmas.

Steelworkers 1199 President Chuck Jones said at the time Trump did convince Carrier to keep 800 jobs, but he lied about saving 1100.

Chuck Jones: "Trump got up there, he lied about that. And so consequently people got false hopes that they were gonna keep their jobs.

And when all the smoke cleared 730 of our members were keepin' jobs , 550 aren't gonna have a job.

CWA 3176 Up With Century Tel Does Not Care Web Site - Strike Is Authorized

CWA Local 3176 has launched a web site called centuryteldoesnotcare.com to explain what workers at Century Tel are fighting for in a new labor contract. The local rejected the company''s latest offer and has authorized a strike.

The CWA contract at Century Tel in Florida expired 60 days ago. The union says it wants to keep employment protections its had for years rather than allow much more outsourcing of American jobs to overseas call centers.

Majority Of Charter School Teachers At Cesar Chavez School In DC Want To Go Union

The American Federation of Teachers says a "decisive majority" of teachers have filed a petition with the NLRB to have a union election at Cesar Chavez Prep Middle school in Washington, D.C.

It's the result of a two-year organizing effort by the AFT. If the union wins the election it will be the first charter school in D.C. to become union.

The AFT represents educators at 231 charter schools in 15 states around the country.

Tesla Worker Injury Rates Exceed Industry Average As Workers Mount Union Organizing Drive

Tesla Motors may be  modern and cutting edge with its electric vehicles, but it's old school when it comes to worker safety. Worksafe, a California group pushing for safer conditions for workers, says Tesla's worker injury rate "consistently exceeded industry averages". The group's report says Tesla's worker injury rate at its Fremont California plant is a third higher than average. For serious workplace injuries, it's more than twice the industry average rate. Pro-UAW workers at the plant are trying to organize union representation at Tesla.

Teamsters Solidarity Works! Anti-Union Star Fisheries Ordered To Reinstate Strikers

Teamsters Local 572 Secretary-Treasurer Rick Middleton. He's talking about a worker victory at Star Fisheries in San Pedro, California. A federal district court judge ordered the striking workers reinstated to their jobs. 

Rick Middleton: "Nobody crossed the picket line. Our drivers all, in solidarity, stayed out almost two years.

She's been instructed to put these people back to work. And there will be a trial. That's pending."

Connecticut Public Workers Facing $1.5B In Concessions, Threat Of Layoffs

A coalition of labor unions representing Connecticut public workers are facing $1.5 billion dollars in concession demands underscored by the real and imminent threat of potentially thousands of layoffs.

One union in the coalition is the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees Council 4.

AFSCME Council 4 spokesperson Larry Dorman.

 "We are in a tough anti-labor environment brought about by a growing deficit that's expected to reach in excess of $5 billion over the next couple of years.

VW Must Respond To New Chattanooga Labor Law Violation Charge By May

VW has until May 24th to respond to a new NLRB labor law violations charge. VW already was charged for refusing to recognize and bargain with UAW Local 42 at the VW Chattanooga Tennessee plant.

The latest National Labor Relations Board unfair labor practice charge is for increasing health insurance premiums and changing work hours without bargaining with the UAW over those changes.

213,000 Letter Carriers Reach Tentative New Labor Deal With Postal Service

The National Association of Letter Carriers has reached a tentative new labor agreement with the U.S. Postal Service covering 213,000 active city letter carriers nationwide.

The union negotiated pay increases, no increases in health care costs and narrowed the pay gaps between city carrier assistants (CCAs) and career letter carriers.

NALC President Fredric V. Rolando says the union's executive council is recommending that letter carriers ratify the tentative agreement.
