We regret having to inform our membership of the passing of Brother Steve Blaich on April 12th, 2025th, at the age of 80.
Brother Blaich was initiated into Local 728 on December 10th, 1966, and was a member of Local 728 for 58 years. He retired in 2017 after 51 years in the field. Steve worked the traditional studio ladder, starting out as a rigger, lamp operator and working his way up to best boy on movie productions and eventually settling into gaffing television shows. As such, he gaffed How I Met Your Mother (140 episodes), Carly, Minister of Divine, Livin' on a Prayer, Life with Bonnie, Grounded for Life, Men Behaving Badly, Stuck in the Middle with You, and many more.
In October of 2024, Steve was awarded an IATSE Gold Card and became a lifetime retired member of IATSE.
