‘Monsters of Ohio Labor’ Tour State to Tout Clinton, Trash Trump

In the weeks leading up to Labor Day, a group of prominent Ohio labor leaders conducted a tour of press conferences around the state to discuss the presidential candidates in the 2016 elections. "There is a clear contrast for working people this fall and this election, which will be a formative one for an entire generation of Ohioans," said Ohio AFL-CIO President Tim Burga, at the onset of the tour.

Daniel Aranda, with IBEW Local 357 says he's ready to do whatever is needed to oppose Donald Trump and his vitriolic rhetoric attacking Hispanic working families.

Hispanic union members met Thursday at the Culinary Union hall in Las Vegas to plan how to stop Trump and support down-ballot candidates.

I can still recall the first time I saw what state-sanctioned discrimination looked like.

Growing up in rural Kentucky in the first half of the 20th century, I witnessed firsthand the extreme measures that elected officials would take to prevent African-American men like my father from voting.

They made him guess the number of beans in a jar. Regardless of how many beans there were, his answer was always wrong. 

They made him count straws pulled from a homemade broom. No matter how many straws they had pulled, his answer was always wrong.
