This hands-on lab course is designed specifically for set lighting technicians who want to sharpen their practical math skills and apply them directly to the demands of the job. Through real-world scenarios and problem-solving exercises, participants will gain confidence performing essential electrical calculations used every day on set and in pre-production.

Topics include:

  • When, where, and how to use 480V Power Systems

  • Calculating cable runs and understanding load distribution

  • Sizing generators and transformers for various production needs

  • Calculating voltage drop across long distances

  • Applying Ohm’s Law in troubleshooting and planning

  • Creating accurate and efficient shop orders

  • Using math to make smarter choices that reduce costs, save time, and prevent unnecessary physical strain

This is not a theory class—it's a working lab. Bring your calculator and be ready to dig into problems that reflect the real challenges faced by lighting technicians in the field.
