Sixty percent of Americans like labor unions, according to a new Pew research poll. Three-quarters of people 18-29 years old approve of labor unions.
The poll shows 76% of Democrats approving of labor unions. Even 55% of young Republicans say they like unions.
But while unions enjoy 60 percent public approval, the Pew poll found just 44% of Republicans overall approve of unions.
For decades the Gallup poll has also shown consistent strong public approval of unions in the U.S. But anti-union politicians keep getting elected and enacting anti-union policies.
Either decades of polling is wrong or maybe the system used to elect politicians does not reflect the popular will of the people.
The Pew poll also found nearly sixty percent public approval of corporations. It found that Republicans like corporations way more than labor unions.
