The U.S. Supreme Court will once again take up a case that could attack public labor union funding. Janus v AFSCME seeks to stop automatic paycheck deductions for union dues under union contracts.
The Economic Policy Institute says if Republicans get their tax overhaul plan it the rich will get big tax cuts while the middle class will get only small crumbs. EPI Budget Analyst Hunter Blair.
[Hunter Blair]: “The bottom line is that it’s clear that this is not a tax plan for the middle class. This does nothing for the middle class. All of the big tax cuts are going to the rich and large corporations.”
In three separate class action lawsuits Menards workers are accusing the company of essentially stealing overtime wages by violating the Fair Labor Standards Act.
The class action suits accuse Menards of not paying legally required overtime and of forcing workers to work off the clock for all breaks. The suits also assert that workers aren’t getting paid for company-required meetings.
The union representing dining service workers at Grinnell College in Iowa has announced a campaign to expand their reach to all 1200 student workers on campus.
Despite soaring corporate profits, and the lowest unemployment rate in sixteen years, millions of workers shouldn’t expect to see much in the way of raises next year, according to a new survey released on Monday.
