On May 1, join the Los Angeles May Day Coalition for our annual May Day March. On that day, Los Angeles will honor the contributions of immigrants, workers, and those who fight to create a more just society for all. This year, thousands of Angelenos will march together in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Harvey Milk, Dolores Huerta, and Cesar Chavez to fight for the right of all workers and immigrant communities.
Together, we will fight back against the attacks on our communities!
Workers depend on investments in the financial markets to finance our retirements and grow our other long-term savings. That means we need sound investment advice, provided by experts who are looking out for our best interests. While it seems obvious that the people whom we rely on to provide this advice should be required to act in our best interest and not line their own pockets, that is not always the case under current rules.
On Tuesday March 13th, the LA Fed hosted its Workers’ Congress. The event included 1,000 union and community members from every industry and region. Shedding light on the role of Los Angeles in moving the country’s progressive agenda forward with the theme Inseparable, Rusty Hicks, President of the LA Fed, welcomed attendees.
Nearly two centuries ago, a group of women and girls — some as young as 12 — decided they'd had enough. Laboring in the textile mills of Lowell, Massachusetts, they faced exhausting 14-hour days, abusive supervisors and dangerous working conditions. When threatened with a pay cut, they finally put their foot down.
