Nearly 3,000 South Carolina Boeing Workers To Vote February 15th On Union Representation

Nearly 3,000 Boeing workers in South Carolina will get a chance to vote for union representation February 15th. The International Association of Machinists filed for the NLRB election inJ January.

IndustriALL, a global union federation, is wishing the IAM well in the election.

The IAM had scheduled an election in 2015 but withdrew before it happened in the face of an intense anti-union campaign from state politicians and others. This time there will be no withdrawal.

The IAM says that "Boeing is using a portion of their $1.63 billion fourth quarter profits to hire a union-busting law firm, so workers at the North Charleston plant are being hit with a barrage of anti-union television, radio and social media ads."

South Carolina has the lowest union membership rate in the U.S.
