
Instructor Bio:
Dan is a transplant from Hawai'i, where he started doing theater in high school. After graduating from CalArts in 1995, he took a job at Light and Sound Design as a moving lights tech and worked his way up from there. Starting 1998 he became a lighting director on a number of tours including Luther Vandross, Hole, and Black Eyed Peas. In 2000 he formed his own company, Kamiano Lighting Design and was designing lighting for different acts including, Eminem, Tori Amos, Missy Elliott, A Perfect Circle, Blue Man Group, as well as the main stage at the Coachella Music Festival.
With the birth of his son in 2008, Dan concentrated on working close to home in Los Angeles, but continued to do design work for Eminem, and recently Lil Wayne. Dan joined IATSE 728 in 2010. In 2011, He folded Kamiano Lighting Design into a new company with his wife, Team Boland Productions Inc.
Currently, Dan can be found behind the Grand MA 2 at The Voice filming at Universal Studios.
