Ethernet Protocols 101 - Dec 22 2019

Lighting consoles are becoming more advanced and controlling thousands of channels is common. Many of these consoles (such as Hog III, EOS, GrandMA) are relying on Ethernet protocols for transmitting the information required to operate dimmers, moving lights and other devices. This information is quickly becoming essential knowledge for anyone working with the lighting control system. We will be covering MAC IDs, IP Addresses, bridges, routers, hubs, nodes, and wireless networking. We will also have a hands-on workshop with 8P8C connectors & keystone jacks.

We will be assembling a network in the class so please bring a laptop with an Ethernet port/adapter. If you do not have one, please let me know. We do have some that can be used for the class.

This class covers topics that are listed as being in the content outline for the ETCP Entertainment Electrician Certification Exam.
