The California Labor Federation released its Force for Progress legislative scorecard for 2018 today, applauding those in the state legislature who voted to support working people on key priorities like strengthening the middle class, fighting sexual and racial discrimination in the workplace, affordable housing, infrastructure investment, protection of immigrant workers and other worker issues 100 percent of the time during last year’s legislative session.
While the Trump Administration and GOP-controlled state legislatures around the country continue an assault on core worker protections, California is leading the way to defend workers’ rights, raise wages, support public education, put an end to discrimination and abuse on the job, strengthen worker health and safety and protect the most vulnerable workers from exploitation.
“California is the national leader in defending workers from attacks levied by corporate special interests and the politicians they control,” said California Labor Federation Executive Secretary-Treasurer Art Pulaski. “Our worker-centered policy agenda is tackling some of the most stubborn challenges of our time, including income inequality, the housing crisis and shrinking avenues of justice for working people. We thank those legislators who stood with us 100 percent of the time to rebuild California’s economy from the bottom up.”
In 2018, 16 State Senators received 100 percent scorecards from the California Labor Federation. In the State Assembly, 21 legislators earned the 100 percent designation.
